Early Life Insights: A Glimpse into My Journey.

At the tender age of five, I started  with a myriad of psychological and physical symptoms, including insomnia, anxiety, nightmares, sore throat, earache, and stomach problems. These challenges became a normal part of my life and ingrained themselves into my identity as a highly sensitive person. Sometimes they were worse, sometimes better, making it hard to discern why.

As I transitioned into my teenage years, the physical symptoms gave way to overwhelming emotional distress. Coping mechanisms emerged to handle these feelings, providing temporary relief but ultimately evolving into counterproductive, harmful habits.

I was 21 when I started experiencing chronic back pain and cyclical migraine and it completely derailed my life.

Ten tears later, shortly after the birth of my second child, I caught a virus which led to two decades of a seemingly endless list of symptoms. Doctors found nothing wrong which only added to the stress and confusion, ultimately bringing me to my knees.

About Me - Present-Day Reflections

I'm Ali, a Chronic Pain & Traumatic Stress Recovery Coach, with a focus on recovery from chronic pain syndromes, stress, and stress related illness.

Since 2018, I've served as an administrator, coach, and mentor in several Facebook and Signal groups dedicated to chronic pain and migraine.

Initially, my professional journey centred on dietary strategies for alleviating chronic pain and achieving improved overall health. While dietary interventions provided temporary relief, they ultimately fell short as they couldn't address the profound psychological and emotional aspects of neuroplastic pain and chronic stress.

 Why a Mind-Body Approach

In 2019, my journey out of chronic pain began with the discovery of Somatic Psychotherapist Peter Levine and his teachings. Exploring Somatic Experiencing therapy, I found resonance in its focus on the body and nervous system. This practical approach had been notably absent in all the modalities I had previously explored in my quest for relief.

For the first time, there was something tangible to address. I had grappled with physical symptoms, anxiety and stress for as long as I could remember, often with limited access to effective resources. Now, I had practical tools at my disposal.

The next big question was, 'Why had this happened?' The connection between childhood adversity and the likelihood of developing chronic pain as an adult is well-documented. Despite my ill health, I found it challenging to believe this applied to me because, all things considered,

I'd had a good childhood.

Late in 2019, my vision expanded when I found the Curable app, a Mind-Body app for chronic pain recovery. Despite the virtual nature of an app, I witnessed remarkable progress within two months. My chronic symptoms of post-viral illness, chronic fatigue, TMJ, facial and neck pain, and fibromyalgia gradually faded away.

While improvements in migraine headaches took more time, within a year, the frequency plummeted from two migraines a month to just four a year. They were no longer chronic and diminished further with each passing year.

Inspired by this transformative experience, I envisioned creating a more personal solution, one that was both affordable and deeply impactful.

Motivated by my own experiences, those of my clients, and the subtle impact of complex and developmental trauma on health, I have pursued further education in the field of trauma, leading to my attainment of a postgraduate certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies from the Trauma Research Foundation.

My Mission

Instead of accepting a life of pain, I'm dedicated to helping you transform the way you perceive and respond to chronic pain. I will focus on helping you reshape your brain's responses to ultimately reduce or eliminate chronic pain symptoms. My holistic approach addresses root causes and integrates mind-body principles like pain reprocessing therapy, trauma-informed nervous system regulation, and Mindset training, guiding you towards lasting relief, nurturing resilience, and well-being.
